Blog on Ch. 1+2:

One of the things that startled me most in the first two chapters is the so called 'Biblical' references. They say that those who are deformed have the hatred of God upon them. Are you kidding me!? God calls us to love all, and care for those who struggle with disabilities. When you find out that Sophie has six toes, you know it can't end well. From what their book of rules says, she is an outcast, and God is her enemy. Although this may be a very extreme example, these crazy stereotypes happen in every day life. They occur with skin colour, beliefs, looks, wealthiness, and the list goes on and on. These rules are simply bringing what our major problems are in the world are, and putting them to the extreme. I believe that David and Sophie will enter a journey together to find where they truly belong.
